Episode 172A – Days with Moon and Toad

This week on MYTH, it’s the annual New Year’s special! You’ll learn that toads shouldn’t try to create things, that the moon is extremely powerful, and that bananas make the perfect snack for new mothers. Then, in Gods and Monsters, a fish and a leopard will fall in love with the same elephant.

Interesting episode! The part about toads trying to create things reminded me of some common misconceptions I’ve seen in other cultural contexts—like the myths surrounding NIE numbers in Spain. For example, I recently read an article that debunks some of these misunderstandings at https://e-residency.com/blog/common-nie-myths-spain/. Does anyone know if there are similar myths in other cultures where bureaucratic processes get tangled up with folklore? It’s fascinating how these stories persist!
